Sri Lanka to the Maldives

Day 1 - London - Colombo Airport 


Day 2 - Private Chauffeur - Airport transfer from Colombo to Laankavatara (2.5hrs) where you will stay for 3 nights. 


THE DEEP SOUTH is the area that covers the region from Matara down past Tangalle to Hambatota on the south-east coast. The beaches here are less touristy than the west coast; it's not unusual to find yourself alone on long, dreamy stretches of palm fringed sand. Inland the tropical vegetation is colourful and lush around sleepy temples and idyllic looking villages. Some of the prettiest palm fringed bays in the country are found on this stretch of coast which is regarded as a bastion of Sinhala patriotism. 


Overnight at Lankavatara: Deluxe Ocean Front View - Double + Breakfast. Situated on an amazing stretch of beach near Tangalle, this eco-friendly property has amazing views, bright rooms and a lovely pool. 


Day 3 - REKEWA TURTLE NIGHT WATCH - Rekawa Beach, close to Tangalle, is one of Sri Lanka's most important turtle nesting beaches. 


Day 4 - BUFFALO SECRETS - Visit the humble home of a dairy farmer in Tangalle and see how he and his wife work at keeping an age-old cottage industry alive. Observe and participate in the process of making buffalo curd, get to know the farmer and his wife and of course, savour this creamy, sour treat for yourselves.


Day 5 - Transfer -The journey from Lankavatara to Why House, where you will be for 3 nights, takes around 2 hours. 


THE GALLE COAST: Galle is the capital of the south and one of Sri Lanka's most cosmopolitan places. The city has had a chequered and varied history, with a plethora of influences and cultures crossing over the centuries, leaving a vibrant and diverse way of life. Famous for the 17th century Dutch Fort, the old walled part of the city has remained remarkably intact and has benefitted from a recent facelift. There are lovely beaches nearby too of course and inland the scenery is incredibly lush, colourful and beautiful. 


Overnight at Why House: Main House - Double + Breakfast. A stunning boutique-style villa with a large pool, well-kept grounds and beautiful décor. The food is excellent and the staff attentive. 


Day 6 -ESSENCE OF GALLE - This morning, you will enjoy a hands on cooking class using fresh vegetables and spices, with clay pots and a fire stove as you learn the local way to prepare your lunch. Afterwards, you will have time to relax on one of the nearby beaches. In the late afternoon, a local guide will bring the old Fort area of Galle to life with a walk around the ramparts and the charming cobbled back streets.


Day 7 -BOATING, TUK-TUK AND LOCAL SNACKS IN THE GALLE COUNTRYSIDE - Today you have an early start for your cruise down the lovely Kapu Ela river. It's a relaxing cruise through canals, under bridges and past small communities, spotting birds and wildlife if you're lucky as you go. Then take a tuk-tuk ride around this remote area, visit a small traditional village to get a feel for how the locals live, and enjoy a snack of egg hoppers. 


Day 8 - Transfer - The journey from Why House to Colombo Airport takes around 2.5 hours. Then Colombo Airport to Male.


SEAPLANE TRANSFER On arrival in Male, you will take a seaplane to Reethi Faru Resort, where you will be for 7 nights. This journey gives you a fantastic view of the islands below. 


Overnight at Reethi Faru Resort: Water Villa - Double + Half Board.Surrounded by a beautiful house reef, this resort has a great beach, spacious rooms and a relaxed atmosphere.
